What makes for a successful brand? So many things. It’s no wonder that it can feel difficult to keep up with it all. Fortunately, it’s possible to break down the essentials into smaller, easier-to-grasp components that make brand success all the more achievable.
Here are five simple (but very important) concepts to keep in mind when building your brand.
Purpose: Always remember to reflect on your brand’s purpose (your why). Why did you build your brand in the first place? What are your goals? What needs are you fulfilling? Tapping into your “why” is a great way to stay inspired and on track.
Personality: Your brand personality is a set of human characteristics that you incorporate into your brand. This helps your customers and audience relate to your brand. Brand personality is important because it inspires consumers to do business with your brand (and keep coming back). Make sure you take the time to build a brand personality that resonates with your audience and evokes a positive emotional response.
Presentation: The way you present your brand (through your website, social media, etc.) has the power to build its strength. Building a compelling story around your brand in a way that is both visually and emotionally engaging is essential to generating interest in your products and services.
Passion: What’s the point of doing what you do if you don’t love it? Passion is essential for your brand because it is a constant motivation source. If you feel yourself slowing down or getting burned out, take time to reflect and reset. Consider doing something as simple as reorganizing your office space or changing your workday schedule. Maybe even take time to work on introducing some changes to your brand that you’ve been pondering.
Patience: Your brand is a journey and where you start is unlikely to be the same place you end up. Be patient with yourself. Give yourself the room you need to make mistakes and try new things. Remember, your brand is very much a living thing. It will likely go through many stages of evolution, growing and changing just as you do.
